Melody’s research is focused on Therapeutic Garden Design which are found at healthcare facilities, and may be designed and used as part of the recovery program for patients.
Therapeutic garden guidelines differ per facility care type and user group, i.e., cancer center garden vs. psychiatric unit garden. In 2017 Melody presented her findings on the difference between designing for any healthcare facility vs. a hospice home. The findings were presented at the University of Massachusetts in a poster format shown below:
